And make sure you research calendar before you finish the GL. Work as much production as you can without starving (stagnating is OK), chop all the forests you can chop. Just make sure you start building the GL as soon as it's available and you already have a worker at this point. But there's a good chance it won't be out until turn 35, which is too late. On higher difficulties you can risk stealing one from a CS. On lower difficulties you'll need to build a worker right after a scout or two. Just make sure you have hills and some forest tiles at your starting location. It's generally a noob trap but works great for this particular civ, because you aren't really sacrificing much. When I play Venice, I can often successfully rush the Great Library. You'll need to purchase many of the important buildings in the puppets, so trade routes are important. The way I see it, you'll still need a couple of puppets. All you'll need to do next is adapt it to Venice. You will get all the necessary info on tech and social policy priorities. Anyone got any tips they can give on how to pull this off? The Venice guide I've read all suggest going for diplomatic victory, and barely any information on cultural victory, but this is the approach I want to scale all way up to Diety, hopefully.Ĭulture victory with Venice is definitely a challenge. I'm not losing or anything, I can defend myself easily enough, but I just can't actually win the way I want. It's very satisfying when I see my city absolutely filled with great works and wonders. There's just something about being a beacon of civilization and culture and nobility and honour and (fill in your favourite old-money snobbish adjective here). Love the culture victory because of the RP value again. Culture Victory - I don't enjoy Domination victory at all.Love the challenge, but more importantly, the RP value of being the equivalent of a city-state owner going up against global powers. Venice - I love controlling just one city.Mostly, I've just been learning about what styles I enjoy, and I've found two: I've been playing against more difficult levels, and is starting to struggle now (think my latest game is on King). I'm quite new to the franchise and I've been learning the game on Chieftain difficulty.
